
A life-sized figure of a standing, nude, male ancestor, with a typical large, ovular head with flat facial plane bearing large shell eyes, inset into the raised orbits and long nose with flared nostrils and raised bridge. Wide, crescentic mouth with two raised cheek nodes above and ridged hairdo. Body bears incised scarification on the pectorals and upper arms. Body and integral base painted black, face painted red and white. Middle Sepik River region, Papua New Guinea. Cracks on base and behind. On wood base for stability.
