It is enshrined in brass and gold brass repoussé forming roll adorned with the head of kirtimukha, cabochons, turquoises, lotus, buddha, dragons and phoenixes. Those that feature an attached wing bear the special designation rag gshog-ma. They are used as ceremonial trumpets in prayer rituals, to summon monks to prayer, to summon spirits as well, and to invoke rain and water.
